How to get there:

To get to Havlickovy Sady, you may take the take the #4, 22, or 23 trams and get off at the Jana Masaryka stop.  Then walk east to Machova and make left on Rybalkova.  At the bottom of the hill you will see the gates to the park.

You may also take the #6, 7, or 24 trams and get off on Vrsovicka at Vrsovickeho nadrazi.  The park is right behind the new apartment complex.

Havlickovy Sady

By Jennifer Page

Havlickovy Sady is one of the prettiest neighborhood parks in Vinohrady and it is easy to get to as well.  I went there on a hot afternoon and was not excited about walking around in the humidity.  When I walked through the gates to Havlickovy Sady though, the trees made a cool get away that put me in a much better mood. There are lots of little shaded nooks and side yards that are perfect for relaxing or studying. You can follow the signs to a great little restaurant with the best view in the park.  It sits on top of a cliff overlooking the park and neighborhood.  They also serve their own wine from the vineyard surrounding the outdoor patio. This park and restaurant truly belongs to the neighborhood, as it was filled with kids and people enjoying lunch.  I counted the number of tourists on one hand, so go to this sady to be in a real Czech environment.  As a side note: the beginning paths at the front of the park are flat and paved, but as soon as you leave the fenced area, the paths become hilly and unpaved.  Remember not to wear slippery flip-flops.  I can tell you from personal experience that it will not end well.
