Where will you be staying? Many programs won't tell you.  Some programs will even scatter students all over the city.  They may use arbitrary language such as: all students  are located approximately 30 minutes by public transportation from the classes.  It only takes 30 minutes to the last subway station in Prague during the day, but when the subway closes at midnight you could be cut off from the center of the city and Prague's night life!

CEECE students choosing the dorm option on a Charles University program are housed in the komenskeho dorm near the Prague castle.  The dorm is mainly for foreign students and is the most popular dorm for American students.  The neighborhood is filled with cafe's and a variety of restaurants.  However, It is more lively during the the day when the Prague castle is open.  The dorm is close to public transportation and shopping areas.  Students can easily get around on foot or by taking the a tram or the subway.  Students will have to take a tram down the hill to get the center of the city.

The dorm has all the basic essentials you should need and are fully furnished.  A washing machine at the dorms is available to students. The komenskeho Dorm is a nice and safe place providing many services that will make your student life easy and pleasant.  Do not bring pillows, blankets, sheet etc. They are supplied and frequently washed by the staff.

The dorm option is recommended for students who want to live in a dorm environment mainly with other American students.  Do not expect much interaction with Czechs.   This option is not recommended for independent minded students or students who want to be  immersed in a neighborhood with Czechs.  The dorm can have rigid rules that may be difficult to adjust to.
