Budapest is the capital city of Hungary, and its area has been inhabited for thousands of years. It was created out of the unification of the separate historic towns of Buda, Pest and Obuda in 1873. With its fascinating Chain Bridge, the Parliament Building, Royal Palace, St. Matthias Church, Fishermen's Bastion and many other cultural and historical spots, is rightly known as the queen of the Danube. |

The Parliament was built between 1885 and 1902, at the time it was the largest parliamentary building in the world. The building has a length of 268 meters(880 feet) and is 118 meters(388 feet) wide. The Parliament house contains more more than 20km (65616 feet) of staircases, and 691 rooms. The elegant dome has a height of 69 meters (227 feet). The main style of the building is neo- gothic with renaissance influences, but the base ground plan is Baroque. |

The Fishermen's Bastion located near the castle offers one of the best views of the Parliament and all of Budapest. This area is known as Fishermen's town because of the old fish market located here during the medieval times. The structure which is combination of neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style was built in 1905. The Fishermen's Bastion made up of seven towers - each one symbolizing one of the seven Magyar tribes that came to Hungary in 896. |

The early twentieth century Budapest Vajdahunyad castle is a unique blending of many different architectural styles. It was built for the city's millennium exhibition in 1896. The museum continues to this days and guests can visit to learn about animal husbandry, forsetry, fishing, Hungary's wine industry, and much more. |

The millennium monument is the centerpiece of the Heroes' square. It was built in 1896 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the Magyar conquest. Soaring above the square is the 118- feet-tall(36meters) Millennial Column and topped with a statue of the Archangel Gabriel. Around the monument are a number of statues honoring Arpad and the seven chieftains who settled Hungary. |
