Trip to Berlin

Hello everyone. This page about Berlin will show to you the brightest sides of this beautiful and old city in the center of Europe. A three day trip to Berlin is one of our international excursion possibilities. We will stay in the beautiful center of Berlin and we will see all historical and famous places.

Berlin is the capital city and one of sixteen states of Germany. With a population of 3.4 million in its city limits, Berlin is the country's largest city. It is the second most populous city and the ninth most populous urban area in the European Union. Located in northeastern Germany, it is the center of the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan area, comprising 5 million people from over 180 nations.

The Fernsehturm, the highest building in the city, is one of Berlin's biggest attractions. Its total height is 368 meters: the viewing platform is at a height of 203 meters. The Fernsehturm, member of the World Federation of Great Towers, consists of a 250m-high reinforced concrete shaft topped by a stainless steel sphere, which is divided into seven stories.

The Brandenburg Gate, Berlin's only remaining city gate, is the true symbol of the city. It was situated in the no man's land just behind the Berlin Wall and it became symbolic division of the city. The Gate was reopened on December 22, 1989 after the Berlin Wall fell. The sandstone construction, built from 1788- 1791 to plans by C.G. Landghans, has 12 Doric columns and is based on the propylaeum of the Acropolis in Athens. On both sides, six Doric columns support the 11 meter-deep transverse beam, dividing the gate into five passageways. In 1794 the building was crowned with the quadriga and goddess of victory created by Schadow, which face eastwards towards the city center.

With is winging medieval lanes and countless bars and restaurants, the Nikolaiviertel is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Berlin.

Before the Second War, the quarter around th Nikolaikirche was characterized by narrow streets, inns, shops, courtyards and craftsmen's workshops.

Gendarmenmarkt is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe - a must for every tourist. Here the Deutscher Dom (German Cathedral), the Franzosischer Dom (French Cathedral) and the Konzerthaus create a beautiful architectural ensemble.
