Prague events and excursions
                                                  Local Excursions

During the semester students visit some of the most significant cities and towns in the country. The number of one day excursions varies slightly by program and some courses also have day trips. Students also can easily travel around the country on their own by train or bus to any of these cities.  Some examples of excursions of the Czech Republic are:

Kutna Hora - a beautiful UNESCO Heritage town located one hour from Prague. Students will visit the famous “bone church,” the silver mines, and St. Barbara’s Cathedral, a historical cathedral constructed in 1388

Karlstejn - is a large Gothic castle founded 1348 AD, it is one of the most famous and most frequently visited castles in the Czech Republic

Cesky Krumlov - is a small city in the South Bohemian Region and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was given this status along with the historic Prague castle district

Southern Bohemia - is an administrative unit (kraj) of the Czech Republic, located mostly in the southern part of its historical land of Bohemia, with a small part in southwestern Moravia

Karlovy Vary -  is a famous spa city situated in western Bohemia

Pilzen - famous town liberated by U.S. troops

Lidice Memorial - village destroyed by the Nazis

Pribram and Vojna Memorial - Communist labor camp

Melnik – Palace tour

Terezin – Former Nazi concentration camp
